When you go on a vacation do you ever want to visit more than just the touristy locations? Find the hidden gems, things the locals do, or frankly the activity where there are not hundreds of people at.
Here are 4 unique activities to do when you visit Williamsburg, Virginia.
1. The President Heads

These iconic president heads are 18-20 feet tall and are only available to be viewed 8 weekends a year. You heard me correctly, only 8 weekends a year! This time frame is usually between October and December so as soon as the tickets go on sale make sure to purchase your tickets.
Things to note when visiting:
The property is very muddy so keep that in mind for foot apparel.
This is a dog-friendly and family-friendly event
Merchandise is available for sale at the property
They are located on private property, so there is no "sneaking around" to see them another time during the year.
This is not an ADA-friendly activity.
Tickets can be purchased at https://thepresidentsheads.com/
2. Take a Historic Triangle Air Tour with Williamsburg Flight Center
Have you ever wondered what it is like to see a palace or amusement park from up above? It's fun to see it on foot but it's even cooler and less crowded if you see it from up above! The air tours are given by students in flight school and they allow you to see attractions in the entire Historic Triangle which encompasses Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.
Things to keep in mind:
It is a 4 seater plane so it will be a bit tight as you are flying around
Your pilot will be your personal guide so feel free to ask questions
If there are weather concerns they will reschedule your flight
Family-friendly event
You can book your tour here: https://www.williamsburgflightcenter.com/air-tours/
3. Jamestown Glasshouse
Jamestown Glasshouse is where glassblowers show you how to make vases, mugs, and more. These modern artisans, in reproductive clothing, produce common glass objects very much as they must have done almost 400 years ago. There is even beautiful glass to purchase!
4. 8 Shires Coloniale Distillery
This distillery creates hand-crafted spirits utilizing historic recipes from the 17th and 18th century. While they may not taste like our current whisky, rum, or gin, they are delightful and have a unique flavor.
Things to note:
Tours are offered every Tuesday - Saturday from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
There is no food on the property but Casa Pearl is close by :)
They will offer you one free tasting sample of a spirit when you order
