In the hustle and bustle of our digital age, it's become increasingly rare to detach ourselves from the constant ping of notifications and the lure of endless scrolling. But sometimes, all you really need is a weekend with your cell phone off, and the rejuvenating embrace of Mother Nature. And there's no better place to find this digital detox and natural solace than the breathtaking Jefferson National Forest.

Jefferson National Forest:
Nestled in the heart of Virginia, Jefferson National Forest is a hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Whether you're a solo adventurer, a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or a family searching for an unforgettable escape, this forest offers an experience like no other. The best part? It's dog-friendly, making it the perfect destination for pet owners who can't bear to leave their furry companions behind, like me. :)
Natural Bridge State Park

2 mile round trip walking trail where you will also see a creek and caves along the way
$9 per adult to enter
Hike #1 - Devil's Marble Yard

They call this hike the adult jungle gym because once you see the giant rocks you can choose to keep on the path or start climbing them. The distance is also up to you, the trail runs into the Appalachian trail so you can keep going if you would like.
Belfast Trail is where the hike begins
Limited parking
Secluded trail
Moderate to hard hike
Dog-friendly but keep in mind the trail is rocky
Hike #2 - Sulphur Spring Trail

My favorite hikes are hikes with a peak! This is a great hike to do in the morning so you can eat lunch at the top.
Limited parking
Secluded trail
Easy
I recommend leggings because the trails aren't as clean cut
5-6 mile round trip
Dog-friendly
Where to camp? Thunder BRidge Campground

Located about 15 minutes away from the above hikes and can be booked on the Hipcamp app.
Dog-friendly
Secluded sites
Clean restrooms
Running cold and hot water
Easy check-in
Get the bundle of wood for $10 it's worth it and they give you a lot
$30 per night plus tax/fees
They also have RV sites as well
So this is your sign to unplug and head to Jefferson National Forest this fall!
